M.C.F.P.D. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TEAM
The Mercer County Fire District Haz-Mat Team is stationed out of Mercer Central Fire (Station 5). The team also works in conjunction with Haz-Mat Area 12 out of Somerset, Ky. As of March 2007 we also were added to the response district of the Bluegrass Emergency Response Team (B.E.R.T), whose main hub is in Versailles. With that we can call on B.E.R.T. for assistance in not only Hazardous Materials situations, but Technical Rescue responses as well.
The Haz-Mat team equipment trailer is housed at Station 5. The trailer was sent to us from the Kentucky WMD Haz-Mat team stationed in Region 12 in Somerset. The trailer is equiped with almost everything the team would need to set up at a hazardous materilas situation, but we also get assistance from the Region 12 team in Somerset who respond with a truck.
